Superstars of the Week:  Abby and Ellie Elmore

Nominated by: GOTR Staff

HUGE snaps and sparkle fingers to GOTR alumnae SUPER STARS Abby and Ellie Elmore! They are kind, compassionate and confident young women doing an amazing job of keeping their mother Amy Elmore’s passion and spirit alive.

Sadly, we lost our dear friend and colleague Amy exactly two years ago today. For all that knew her, it was evident what was important to her. Championing the power of girls and women to leave their mark on the world was an ethos she carried with her into everything she did.  “What you do is always more powerful than what you say” is a motto by which she lived.

From serving as a GOTR Coach, to fundraising as a SoleMate, to forging strong relationships with supporters of GOTR, her work with Girls on the Run Greater Cincinnati enabled us to carry out the mission she truly embodied. We are immensely grateful for having Amy’s heartfelt advocacy, both personally and professionally.

Today on her anniversary,, we see Amy’s light shining brightly through her beautiful daughters. They’ve taken up the mantle of serving as community role models by using skills they learned in GOTR’s program and of course, through Amy’s guidance.

Together as sisters,, they’ve established The Pink Warrior Project to bring awareness to both breast cancer research and support as well as raise money to give scholarships to future GOTR girls through The Amy Elmore Superstar Scholarship fund.

Additionally, we acknowledge and appreciate their desire to give back to GOTR as 5K volunteers and local team coaches. They have both stayed connected with their  schools, sororities and the GOTR family while also empowering 47 deserving girls with scholarships to the program. Despite the hardships they have both endured, they found a positive way to make a difference for local girls and the breast cancer community.

Abby and Ellie, we have no doubt your mom is smiling down and beaming with pride!
