Ironman to Impact:Jessica Bandy Champions Girls on the Run

When it comes to embodying the spirit of Girls on the Run, few people shine brighter than Jessica Bandy. Since her first volunteer role at a GOTR 5K, Jessica has become a cornerstone of our Greater Cincinnati community, dedicating herself to empowering girls and helping them discover their limitless potential. From coaching to running marathons, Jessica has given countless hours, energy and heart to support the girls in our programs, and the results are nothing short of inspiring.

“I love what GOTR does - empowering girls, giving them an outlet, confidence and so much more,” Jessica shares. “The energy and excitement during the season leading up to the 5K is indescribable unless you’ve witnessed it. Fundraising invites me to have a small part in encouraging more young girls to participate in the program, and I never take that for granted.” Her dedication is reflected in every stride she takes as a SoleMate, a role she describes as an honor: “I always try to think of my trainings as not just for myself but for the young girls who may be looking up to me for inspiration or encouragement to be strong!”

Jessica’s drive is matched by her creativity and athleticism. She has organized countless unique fundraisers from indoor triathlons to spin-a-thons, jewelry parties, scavenger hunts and fun runs, all while completing four Ironman races and setting ambitious fundraising goals along the way. In 2009, she raised $10,000 for GOTR; by 2011, she doubled that goal, and by 2013, she had set a staggering $50,000 target and surpassed it with ease. With Boston Marathon races and Ironman Chattanooga under her belt, Jessica eventually raised $100,000 to support GOTR Greater Cincinnati!

Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Jessica is a personal trainer and former PE/Health teacher, using her profession to inspire both her clients and her students. Many have joined GOTR’s 5K, become donors or volunteered themselves, extending her impact exponentially. “I cannot wait to run the Queen Bee in person this year!” she says, reflecting on past races she ran virtually. “It is one of my favorite races, and I hope to fundraise all the way through the race. Come join me!” Right now, Jess aims to raise enough funding to support 60 girls through scholarships.

Jessica Bandy is a true SUPER SoleMate—her boundless energy, heart of gold and unwavering dedication continue to inspire girls, volunteers and donors alike. Every shining step she takes tells a story of perseverance, empowerment and hope. For our GOTR girls, those steps light the way for a future filled with confidence, courage and limitless potential.
